CHOOSE YOUR SESSSION

You want to make art. You think about it. You have the supplies, bookmark the tutorials, tell yourself you'll start soon.

And then something stops you. The voice of your inner critic. The blank page. The voice that says you’re not good enough, not ready enough, not creative enough.

This workshop is for that voice. And for the part of you that’s ready to stop listening to it.

What is the Brave Art & Creative Wellness Workshop?

Brave Art & Creative Wellness (BACW) is a 5-week live workshop in which we use watercolor — one of the most beautifully uncontrollable mediums there is — as a tool for letting go. Of perfectionism. Of expectations. Of the idea that your art has to look like anything at all.

Each week we meet on Zoom for two hours of intuitive art-making, reflective writing, and the kind of honest, vulnerable conversation that only happens in very small, very safe rooms.

Why Watercolor?

Watercolor doesn’t do what you tell it to. It bleeds. It blooms. It surprises you. And that’s exactly the point.

When you stop fighting the medium and start following it, something shifts. You stop needing to control the outcome. You start trusting the process. And what happens on the page starts to mirror what can happen in the rest of your life.

This workshop is an exploration of watercolor as process art — no techniques to master, no right way to do it. Just curiosity, color, and you.

A Room Small Enough to Be Real

This workshop is intentionally capped at 10 participants. Not because I couldn’t fit more, but because real things happen in small spaces.

People share things in these sessions they haven’t said out loud before. That only works when there’s genuine trust — and genuine trust takes time to build in a room that feels safe enough to be honest in.

Sessions are never recorded. What’s said in the room stays in the room. That’s not just a policy — it’s the reason it works.

By the End of Our 5 Weeks Together, You Will:

✓  Have a repeatable creative process you can return to any time you feel stuck, anxious, or disconnected from yourself

✓  Have loosened the grip of perfectionism — not by thinking your way out of it, but by making art through it

✓  Know what it feels like to create without an agenda — and want more of it

✓  Have made real connections with a small group of people who showed up the same way you did: bravely and imperfectly

✓  Feel more at home in your own creative voice than when you started

What Past Participants Say

"Taking this class has been the best thing I’ve chosen to do as far as self-care in years. The process of art-making, journaling, and sharing has allowed me to begin to open some parts of my heart that have been closed off. Several times that breakthrough has happened as I listen to someone else share. This class has started the ball rolling, and I’m finding myself more and more turning to art to process difficult emotions and even memories. I have wanted to do that for years but never knew how."

Julie C.

"Jackie creates a safe environment to combine the practice of being present with the opportunity to just play. With low or no-cost materials, no artistic ability required, and a structured time period it’s like a break from life and an opportunity to refresh. Jackie has a natural ability as a facilitator, providing clear instructions yet providing flexibility, offering alternatives and negotiating the approach to each session with the participants."

Paul W.

"This workshop gave me a true respite from the chaos of my life. Jackie’s warm and welcoming approach created an environment where I felt safe to show up exactly as I was. It was a truly judgment free zone that allowed for focus, grace, creativity, and freedom. What a joy."

Meet Jackie

Hi, I’m Jackie Schomburg Meynen — a self-taught abstract artist and certified Open Studio Process Facilitator. I have a busy home life with my husband and three young kids, which has shown me over and over again how important it is to show up intentionally for yourself — even when (especially when) life is loud.

I’ve spent years helping people who don’t think of themselves as artists discover that making art has almost nothing to do with talent — and almost everything to do with permission.

These workshops are the work I’m most proud of. I hope you’ll join us.
